The Rut Is A Difficult Place To Be. Here Is An Unorthodoxy Way

The rut is a difficult place to get out of. It doesn’t matter how you got there, it could have been by accident, but once you are in it… it is tough to get out.

The classic picture is of the car stuck in the mud. The wheels are spinning, the motor is churning, everything is working the way it is supposed to but you’re going no where. You get out of the car and try to push the two ton vehicle, but you go no where. You try to rock it back and forth hoping to grab some traction, but you go no where. By now a lot of time has gone by, all of your focus and attention is on getting out of the rut, while the rest of the world is spinning by, and on top of that you’re late, you’re all sweaty, you have mud all over your good clothes, and your hair is messed up!

I sincerely hope that picture does not describe you. If it does, bless your heart. Today I’m going to share with you an unorthodox and spiritual way to get out of your rut.

The typical way to get out of the rut is to call for help and have someone pull you out. But in many of life’s vicissitudes that is a lot easier than that sounds. I understand.

My wife, Jennifer, has a creative way to get out of the slump. I guess when you are in sales long enough you’ll get in a rut or a slump every now and then, and you just can’t seem to generate any business. The way that she always gets out is to help someone. The particular way she does it is to find someone who needs a home, but can’t afford it and she makes it happen. More than one time this has involved giving away her commission to help with the closing one way or another.

I know that sounds counter-intuitive… I mean the whole idea is to generate business not to give it away, right? But here is what Jennifer knows, that with every sale you can generate at least one if not two more sales. If you have been in the business for any length of time you know how this works, there is no magic about it. But the last thing you’ll find Jennifer doing during a dry spell is trying to dig her way out of it. Instead she will act as if she is not in a slump or a rut and give her way out of it.

Here is your tip of the day. Giving back is the best way to get out of your rut. This is true in every realm of human existence; with regard to your business and money, making your relationships and family life whole again, in keeping your body fit and healthy, not to mention your spiritual life. Remember this… for God so loved the world He gave…

The only question is, “What do you have that you can give back?”

By the way, doesn’t giving back something sound a lot better than wasting your time digging your way out of an endless supply of mud? Do you have time for that?

Do you want to master some important element of life but feel stuck? Give back.

I love you — Bryan Martin.
