All the Amenities But One
My iPhone browser won’t work with my email provider, I don’t have wifi for my computer and the one amenity our vacation villa doesn’t have is internet service, except in certain hot spots. More than that, we have been busy most of the time, if you want to call sitting by the pool watching children play and snorkeling “busy.’ All this adds up to no blogging thus far this vacation week.
I don’t feel too bad about it, though, except that I am obviously behind the IT eight ball when it comes to global communication. This leads me to my topic for today, communication.
Vacations are a great time to reflect and review and plan. What I have discovered is that the technology for talking with each other is growing exponentially and we are behind the times. The fact that you are reading this, instead of watching my daily video is a classic example of what I mean.
If you want to see a great example of a video blog go visit “My Dad is so Asian” on You Tube. Kevin Jumba is smart, clever, contemporary and into helping people. You Tube gives a small amount to charity for each person who watches his Jumba Fund You Tube channel. Each episode has a viewership of over 500,000.
OK… his audience is college age or younger, nevertheless, his video, blog, website are all so interactive that you actually feel apart of his community and his philanthropic effort. If Kevin Jumba is cutting edge this morning then we know that technology is already moved on to something new this afternoon.
In whatever you do, real estate, church work, family life, whatever, mastering communication is key.
Our real estate franchise, Keller Williams, has a sophisticated program just stay connected with the people you know and another for people you have not met yet!
My guess is that if you give yourself half and hour or so a day to discover and learn then you can master what’s necessary. The whole point is this; you want to influence as many people as possible, and influence them profoundly.
If you are relying on Twitter, Facebook, or other social networks, you are behind the times and not aggressive enough in your connecting.
The big question is what do you want to do? Tweet or influence people. As for me, I think I will go for a stroll in old San Jose, Mexico.
I love you – Bryan Martin
p.s. Today we met two unrelated families here from Fresno! Talk about a small planet!
