But I Don’t Want to Work at In & Out Burger
Ben called the low producing agent, “I’ll see at role-playing 8:00am.”
“That’s too early for me,” she said.
“Then maybe you should get a job at In & Out Burger. They pay $13 an hour.”
“I don’t want to work at In & Out. I want to sell real estate.”
“Great! See you at 8:00am.”
What Ben knows is that people need challenging accountability to grow. It is not that people are complacent, lazy or somehow inferior. No, I don’t think that is the case at all. People just need guidance and leadership to get to next level. After all, they have never been there before, they don’t know the way, and they don’t know how. They need direct, challenging accountability to help them get where they want to go.
This is true in virtually every endeavor. To get to the next level, a place where we have never been, we need guidance.
In marriage what pushes us to the next level of closeness and intimacy is challenging life circumstance to get us off stuck. Many marriages simply fail because nothing is done, no help, no counseling, no guidance, no challenging accountability, no marriage.
The same is true with your personal finances. Stuck in a no growth job? If you don’t have someone to constantly challenge you, you will just stay there, suffer with poverty mentality, and never realize your dreams for life.
The same is true with your health. You can’t understand why you can’t lose weight, build strength, and get rid of body fat. “After all I walk a mile every day!” You will never get to the next level of health and fitness if you don’t have challenging accountability. Pay for a coach, go to that boot camp fitness camp, attend Weight Watchers, but give up the magical thinking that you’ll lose weight and get fit by osmosis.
Life is full of wonders just beyond our realm of experience. Unfortunately you can’t there because you don’t know the way; you only have an idea about the way. You need guidance; experienced challenging accountability to help you get there.
